Looking Twice

I am really into double exposure photography. I was discussing this today with my friend, Katy Corea, a very talented photographer. We're hoping to put out some beautiful and stylized makeup/clothing shoots. Sometimes it's incredibly difficult to find a good group of people with like minds, so that's why I'm really looking forward to this!

The photos below are not owned by me or Katy.

Porenza Schouler Fall 2011 RTW

I'm baaaacck..for the three people who read my baby blogette! I have some free time to give my little writing/picture space some love, and hopefully there's plenty more to come. I'm no good with introductions so I'll get right to it.

I love Porenza Schouler. I think the designers have a really great eye mixing and matching, and creating silhouettes which can look great on almost everyone. They patterns and shapes are definitely bold, but they are so artsy and timeless. Every piece from Porenza Schouler's collection can be worn separately, and with anything else in your closet (solids, knit-wear, chiffon, cuit pant/jackets, etc.).

There's a really nice tribal effect with an late 1980s to early 1990s shape to this collection. Picture it, circa 1980s-1990s: Oscar-winning celebrities to Eddie Murphy to super models to Milli Vanilli to Prince to African royalty...ah the good times...

Also. Here's a song/video by a dear friend of mine. For hot days like the ones I go through, songs like this are relaxing, sweet and make me want to jump into a pool which takes me to a magical world in which I swim around in harem pants with edible Starburst patterns on them.

Cruisin' for a....

I am absolutely in love with my NARS 'Crusing' lipstick. It is such a pretty, sheer pink shade which seems to be quite long lasting. It looks great with a minimal amount of makeup, and it will look sultry with a bold eye. This is probably one of the only pink hues that I have found to like - a lot (I am medium o medium-dark in skin tone; very olive toned, NC40-42). It is neutral on me; not too blue or gray. I also really like the spicy scent NARS lipsticks have. Now, their lipgloss scent is a whole other story...

My next purchase is probably going to be a few products from the new holiday line. I am thinking about Bougainville, Downtown and Little Darling. I also really like Sunset Strip lipgloss, which is a permanent shade. It's a perfect golden-peach for medium-dark skin tones.

Gucci SS2011 Milan Fashion Week

Gucci designer, Frida Giannini, captured various cultures using an array of colors and details in her Spring/summer 2011 Milan fashion show. Vibrant, jewel tones and harem pants opened the show; safari-esque neutrals, then night-time, deep tones towards the end of the show. The detailing is amazing, and every piece can be exceptionally worn separately. There was something for everyone from every part of the world. Only a few pieces were simple, but below are most of them which were truly beautiful.
